Almost As Challenging As Finding A Horcrux by K. Fontenot
LEGO Hogwarts combines the fun of building with LEGOs with the constantly changing stairs of Hogwarts Castle from Harry Potter into one challenging game. In order to play the game, the players (or at least their dad or mom) must first construct the game board. In all honesty, this is the most fun part of the game. I thoroughly enjoyed building the board with my daughter and son.

Once all of the pieces are in place, the real challenge begins. The game is centered around the task of each player having to gather the four pieces of their homework from each of the classrooms and then returning to their common rooms. The winner of the game is the person who manages to get all four pieces of their homework back to their common room first.

What makes the object of the game so challenging is the fact that each time you roll the dice, you get the option to turn or slide classrooms and/or stairs in order to make things difficult for your competition. This can lead to some difficulties for younger players. Luckily, the game can be easily modified to allow younger players to enjoy the game as much as older ones.

The dice can be manipulated as much as the game as well, allowing for multiple rule changes and an increase or decrease in the difficulty of play.

All four houses of Hogwarts, Gryffindor (Red), Hufflepuff (Yellow), Slytherin (Green), and Ravenclaw (Blue), are represented by microfigures. In addition, microfigures representing Dumbledore, Ron, Hermione, Draco, and Harry are also included.

Fans of LEGO will enjoy building the game board and playing pieces. Fans of board games in general will also enjoy this game due to the multiple difficulty options. Of course, if you're a fan of Harry Potter you'll definitely enjoy this game. Sure, it isn't Quidditch, but it's still very challenging.

Highly recommended to families with children six or older and fans of LEGO and/or Harry Potter.
